PRE-COLLISION SYSTEM WITH PEDESTRIAN DETECTION (PCS w/PD)
新型プリウスは事前衝突システムを搭載しており、特定の状況での車両や歩行者を検出することにより、安全な走行を保つことができます。
形状認識可能なカメラとミリ波レーダを組み合わせることにより警告音や、特定の状況下での歩行者との衝突の可能性を警告する表示通知を提供します。
ユーザーが反応しない場合は、自動ブレーキのサポートで衝突の可能性を軽減します。
LANE DEPARTURE ALERT WITH STEERING ASSIST (LDA w/SA)
車線逸脱警告システムは、不注意による車線逸脱が検出された場合、MID画面上の警告音と視覚的な警告の両方を行います。
ユーザーが是正措置を取っていないと判断した場合、車線に車両を保つのを助けるために、ステアリング機能が穏やかな修正操舵を開始してアシストします。
AUTO HIGH BEAMS (AHB)
2000フィート離れた対向車を検知するカメラを搭載し、状況に応じて、ハイビームのオン、オフを自動的に切り替えることができます。
これにより、視認性を向上し、夜間走行の安全に役立ちます。
RAIN-SENSING WINDSHIELD WIPERS
ワイパーは雨を感知する可変間欠的なワイパーで自動的にフロントガラスと自動車の速度を打つ雨の量に合わせて、その速度を調整します。
BLIND SPOT MONITOR (BSM)
ユーザーの死角に車両を検出した場合、外部のミラー上の照明インジケータを介して適切にブラインドスポットモニターシステムで警告をします。
REAR CROSS-TRAFFIC ALERT (RCTA)
駐車場など、バック時に車両が近づいてきた場合、リアクロストラフィックアラートでユーザーに警告を伝えます。

USトヨタプリウスとは・・・
プリウス（USトヨタプリウス） は、トヨタ自動車が1997年に製造・発売を開始した世界初の量産ハイブリッド専用車（スプリット方式）です。
電気モーターとガソリンエンジンを使ってムダなく、効率よく走ることが特徴です。
従来車と変わらないガソリンスタンドでの燃料補給のみで電気自動車（EV）の長所を享受でき、新たなインフラを整備する必要がありません。
ガソリンエンジンの効率が悪い低回転域では、低回転トルクに優れる電気モーターを使用して効率的に発進・加速できます。
また、極低速時などモーターの動力のみで駆動できるときや、停止中のエアコン使用時でも、HV（=ハイブリッドビークル）バッテリーの充電状況が十分であればエンジンを停止できるアイドリングストップ機能搭載。
減速時にエンジンを停止（速度によってはガソリン供給のみを停止）し、
運動エネルギーをモーターによって発電して回収しさらに充電することが可能な回生ブレーキを搭載しており、その結果、ブレーキパッドの磨耗等が少ないこともUSトヨタプリウスの利点です。
電力は回生ブレーキやエンジンから直接発電されたものを利用するため、ユーザーが意識して充電する必要はありません。
ただ、THSはモーターと遊星歯車機構を利用した無段変速機(CVT)でもあるため、マニュアル仕様車は存在していません。
なお、エネルギーの流れや実際の燃費などの情報は、マルチインフォメーションディスプレイにリアルタイムで表示され、急加速やエアコンの作動といった燃費を悪化させる操作が行われた場合、その結果が数字などで如実に示されます。
USトヨタプリウスは、「シリーズ・パラレルハイブリッド」という方式を採用しているため、速度域や加速・減速といった条件変化によって、「エンジンのみ」「モーターのみ」「エンジン・モーター併用」の切り替えを頻繁に行い、燃費効率を上げています。ゆるい下り坂では、エンジン・モーターともほとんど作動させないまま走行することも可能で、走行中の燃料消費量を減らすことができます。
トヨタ(US) プリウスのTHSには、一般的なトランスミッションに必要な多数のギアやトルクコンバータを使わずに済むため、凝った構造の割にはコスト面の不利は少ないです。
電気モーターのみの電気自動車に対してもう一方の動力機関であるガソリンエンジンを搭載するハイブリッドカーは、エンジンの動力はもちろん回生ブレーキなどから発生する電力で電池への充電が可能であるため、外部から給電する必要がありません。すなわちEVが抱える問題点の一つである航続距離の点においても有利であるといえます。
